Years 5 and 6
After the successful introduction in 2017 and continued success of Years 5 & 6 at Downlands, we are pleased to announce that two Year 5 classes and two Year 6 classes will start in 2018. Numbers in these classes are capped so now is a good time to find out more.
Our Upper Primary cohort are in for an exciting year under the expert tutelage of Mrs Leigh Lucht, Mr Keith Blaikie, and newly appointed teacher, Ms Leona Doherty. These teachers come with an array of skills and educational experience that augers very well for the future of our Junior school. Students in Years 5 and 6 will have access to similar curricular and co-curricular opportunities as our secondary school ie. The Arts, Cattle Show Team and sport. The students will wear the same summer and winter uniform as students in the secondary school.
The provision of a Junior School is our first priority. We anticipate that renovations of Mooney Wing will commence in early February and be completed by the end of Term Two. When completed, the Upper Primary space will comprise four classrooms, toilet facilities, 'breakout' area, office and resource spaces. Our Years 5 and 6 classes will use Upper Hyland and the newly refurbished space in Ursula Hall until Mooney Wing is completed.
Fees for Years 5 and 6 in 2018 have been set as follows:
- Tuition $6,500 (including applicable levies)
The normal application process applies, using existing College enrolment documents, combined with the payment of the Enrolment Application Fee of $75. Applications need to include a copy of the most recent end of semester school report, the most recent NAPLAN result and a copy of the child’s birth certificate. Interviews are conducted by our Principal, Mr Stephen McIllhatton and members of the College Executive team.
